STAR READ-ALOUD PRACTICES IMPLEMENTATION

Sit Together and Read is an interactive and innovative book-reading strategy that allows adults to systematically develop children’s print knowledge. The program couples repeated reading of quality storybooks with the explicit targeting of specific skills using print-referencing strategies.

Conduct pre- and post-assesments of your children using the screener*.

Follow the 30 week book-reading plan.

Read the scheduled book 4x per week and use STAR cards to guide your reading focus.

Monitor your progress using reading log.

*Use screeners such as the Phonological Awareness Literacy Screener (PALS) to assess upper-and lower-case letter identification, book and print awareness, and name writing.
